Who We Are
Yatran Ukrainian Dance Academy is an exciting place where great friends are made and dance dreams are realized! Come and explore Alberta’s treasured art and culture through Yatran School and Performing Group. We offer great core program and exciting performance opportunities for everyone.
Whatever your age and interest, there is a place for you at Yatran.
From pre-beginner through to the Yatran Performing Group, each level is guided by a curriculum that builds on knowledge and skill from one year to the next.
We strive to create a fun learning environment with the highest priority placed on developing the required skills of technique and presentation. We share a family environment that is inspirational, educational and encourages a spirit of interest in Ukrainian dance and culture and dance in general.
Our instructors work hard to ensure your personal success, whether you are here just for fun and fitness or you intend to pursue dance further. Students are inspired to challenge their minds and bodies and build confidence, self-esteem and a healthy appetite for physical fitness.
The Yatran is a mighty river in Ukraine and accurately describes the forcefulness and fluidity of our dancers. Yatran Dance Academy is a non-profit community group, which was founded in 1987 and incorporated in 1989. Over the last 35 years, the school went though many changes but continued to focus on sharing the love for dance. In 2019, Yatran Dance Academy became affiliated with Ukrainian National Federation, Edmonton Brunch. Yatran is a member of AUDA and UCC Edmonton.
Over the years, Yatran had performed at festivals, cultural events and private functions just to name a few. Yatran dancers had an opportunity to perform in other regions in Canada, US, Mexico and Ukraine.
Yatran competes at several competitions throughout the year and had brought home outstanding awards and honors.
